Weather forecast for the next 5 days for Guernsey, Channel Isles

Guernsey is the second largest of the group of four islands between Britain and France which make up the Channel Islands.

It's an odd mixture of French and British and yet quite individual. It's a member of the British Isles and the currency is British but it's not the United Kingdom and the street names are French. Like many of the Channel Islands. Nearer France than Britain, it really is a world apart.

With sandy beaches, beautiful natural scenery, historic buildings and superb shops and restaurants, this is a great place for a different kind of holiday, yet just a short journey from the UK mainland by sea or plane.
It's also known for being a sunshine place and enjoys good weather unlike the unpredictable British climate.

Guernsey packs a lot of history into its 25 square miles. Visit the award winning Guernsey Museum, where you can find all about life when the islands were occupied by Germany during the Second World War.

The island was most famously home to acclaimed French writer Victor Hugo, who lived here in exile from 1855 and 1870.
The flamboyant author of works like Les Miserables, lived in Hauteville House, near the island's capital St Peter Port and a visit there will reveal a treasure trove with everything from Chinese vases to secret rooms. From his roofstop studio where he wrote many of his famous works, is a stunning view of the islands well worth seeing.

A special treat if you visit during October and November is the Tennerfest, when the hotels and restaurants prepare special menus providing great meals for around £10.

In spring Liberation Day is enthusiastically celebrated and as well as remembering the events which led up to the islands being freed from German occupation, there's a big party.

A trip to Guernsey actually turns into four holidays because there are three other islands to explore while you're here - Alderney, Sark and Herm.

A fortnight won't be long enough to explore this most quirky of holiday destinations.
