Huddersfield is a typical Yorkshire town built around the textile industry. 

Canals played a big part in the prosperity of the town. Huddersfield Narrow Canal was re-opened in 2001 after a massive re-development plan. It includes Standedge, the longest and highest tunnel in Britain at 3 miles 135yds long and standing 645 feet above sea level.
