Located on the main street through Oban, you will find Coast restaurant.
The building within which Coast is based was an old bank, and the granite clad exterior and windows still reflect this.
Once inside, the formal exterior gives way to a light and sophisticated interior. Cool greens and creams, high backed chairs and crisp linens make you feel as though you have entered a quality establishment.
The restaurant boasts a menu which includes local shellfish, seafood and Scottish meats. We tried one of each to ensure that we sampled the whole range.
I tried the Pan Fried Monkfish – delicious! I was unsure as to how the spiced cauliflower would compliment this dish but it did perfectly and the fish was beautifully cooked.
My daughter had langoustines, caught from the local Loch Linnhe, they too were perfectly presented and accompanied by and excellent garlic and parsley butter.
My husband meanwhile opted for Scottish lamb as the meat choice, he said it was one of the tastiest most succulent pieces of lamb that he had ever tasted.
If you like your deserts why not try Cranachan, it’s a traditional Scottish desert but Coast have added their own unique twist to this dish – scrumptious!!!
Coast is easy to find, and offers plenty of good food choices. The service is excellent and we were made to feel really welcome.
