Across the River from Lancaster is Morecambe.  The fabulous sunsets and stunning views across the huge sweeping bay to the Lake District have made the traditional seaside town of Morecambe a popular resort for many generations.  Currently the town is undergoing some much needed regeneration as its popularity has declined since its heyday, but with five miles of flat promenade along the sea front Morecambe is a good spot to indulge in some sea air if you are in the area.

Nearby the village of Heysham is home to some charming 17th Century cottages and Barns.  The Saxon church here sports a well preserved Viking tombstone and the nearby ruins of St Patricks Chapel has stones dating from the 8-9th century and offers some great views over the bay and the surrounding hills. The village also has a ferry port with destinations to Belfast and the Isle of Man and the village is famous for its non-alcoholic nettle beer!
