One of the best reasons to head for Bicester is their outstanding retail village. 
This is a shopper's heaven , with more than 60 discount stores, most of them well known names like Monsoon, Jaeger, Timberland and Versace offering clothing at hugely reduced prices. 
Open seven days a week, many of the stores offer previous season's clothes or goods and there's a couple of places to stop and have a drink or sandwich - a really good day out. 
Set out like a small village, it's difficult to come away without bagging a bargain. But get shortly after it opens at 10am. By lunchtime the car park is crammed full of like minded bargain hunters.

After spending all that money, take time to stop in the market town of Bicester itself, which dates back over 1,000 years when it was mentioned in the Domesday Book.
