Port Erin and the Calf of Man

The wide fine sandy beach, fabulous views, and quiet laid back atmosphere at Port Erin is fabulous for families.

Nearby the Cregneash village folk museum is a cluster of thached crofts that was until recently a real gaelic-speaking village.  Now it is used to give visitors an idea of Gaelic life and at the weekend it comes alive with spinners, weavers and turners in period dress along with demonstrations of local skills.

If you get bored of the beach there are boat trips out to the Calf of Man Bird Sanctuary.  The Calf of Man is a mysterious but dramatic little island half a mile of the coast owned by the Manx National Trust. The waters around the island are a paradise for scuba diving and are a good place to spot basking sharks and seals.
