As the capital of the Isle of Man, Douglas is proud of its Celtic and Norse heritage. Today it’s the heart of the islands offshore finance industry with whole streets occupied by banks and consultancies. The seafront at Douglas has been little changed since Victorian times with long promenades along by the front. There are even horse drawn trams still in operation here. The Manx Museum is a good stop for those wanting to learn more about Manx history and culture.
