Lihou
Lihou Island can be reached by walking across a quarter mile causeway from L'Eree headland on Guernsey.
A haven for wildlife, especially birdlife, like oystercatchers, curlews, redshank and egrets,it's an officially designated Site of Nature Conservation Importance. Areas are roped off to protect the birds but there's still plenty to  see.
As well as birds there's countless creatures to be found in the rockpools and along the shoreline and an abundance of floral treats.
The remains of the Priory are worth a quick look - it's believed to have been built by Benedictine monks in the 12th century.
Just don't get caught out by the tide on Lihou. Visitors need to leave at least 20 minutes before the causeway is due to close. Local radio and newspapers print the opening times.
