Herm
Just a 20 minute ferry ride from St Peter Port is the island of Herm - a place where you can really get away from all the trappings of the modern age.
With no cars and no crowds (the population is just 50) and even no phones or clocks in one hotel, this is where you can switch off and just enjoy unspoilt beaches, beautiful scenery and good food.
Measuring just 1.5 miles by one mile, you can visit for the day or stay in the only hotel on the island The White House Hotel, self-catering cottages or a campsite.
Whatever you choose the result is peace, perfect peace.
As good a place to start a tour of Guernsey is the capital St. Peter Port.
There's plenty to do and see here, from the splendor of Victor Hugo's flamboyant Hauteville House to the award winning museum which charts the island's colourful history.
To get a feel for this remarkable place with 2,000 years of history,
take one of the walking tours around the town.
Explore La Vallete, where there's an underground military museum or take a trip to Castle Cornet and enjoy a walk along the castle ramparts and through the restored gardens.
Tax is low on Guernsey so it's the perfect opportunity to snap up some
bargains.
It's a shopper's paradise, with hundreds of speciality shops to explore. Browse round the antiques stores of the Old Quarter.

And you'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to food with a fantastic range of bistros, cafes and restaurants. And being a port, seafood fans will appreciate the range of fresh fish available straight from the sea.
