Glasgow has a large collections of pubs, both modern and traditional.
The clubs scene ranges from jazz to dance, and if that is not your cup of tea you'll find the Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera all have headquarters in Glasgow.
Glasgow is also home to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre - where most of the major rock and pop acts perform- and also a newer, smaller concert venue next door, The Glasgow Conference Centre, nicknamed The Armadillo because of its shiny exterior.
Barrowlands - right next to the Barras market in Glasgow's East End - is considered by many to be the best venue for concerts in the city. It's old, jam packed and sweaty but the atmosphere is second to none.
The city also has a bewildering array of nightclubs for all ages and all tastes. One of the best ways to find out everything that's going on is to grab a copy of The List - a fortnightly guide to entertainment in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Cinemas have made a come back in the centre of Glasgow as in many other cities.
But just a five minute taxi ride away by Paisley Road West is one of the better ones- the 10 screen Springfield Quay right by the River Clyde, which is also home to a number of restaurants and a huge bingo hall. It also has the advantage of free parking.
