Daventry itself is a historic market town which was once an important stop for horse-drawn coaches travelling to and from London.
Nowadays, it's also a centre for administration and shopping but Daventry district itself comprises 78 villages, many of them with populations of just a few hundred rather than thousands.
Surrounding the town is a gentle landscape which is ideal for walking and cycling.
It's also an ideal place for sailors with a busy marina at Braunston where the Grand Union and Oxford Canals meet.
