Matlock Bath is a major tourist centre. The major attractions are the cable cars at the Abraham
Heights that rise to around 450 feet offering superb views of the gorge, and a theme park known
as Gullivers Kingdom. There are also two show caves open to the public Great Masson Cavern and
Great Rutland Cavern.
The river is also popular for watersports, from pleasure boating in the calm areas to canoe slalom
in the more testing stretches of the river. A highlight of the rive life at Matlock Bath is the
illuminations along the river bank which are on from the August bank holiday through to October.
