The Pennines are a stretch of mountains which cover Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria.
Often referred to as the 'backbone of Britain', there's the chance to enjoy some cycling or walking along the Pennine Way, which stretches 268 miles from Kirk Yetholm in the Borders down, through the Yorkshire Dales to Edale in the Peak District.
It takes walkers through some stunning scenery and areas which have seen everything from mining to Roman invasion. |
