Greystone cottages, cobbles, woodland and the fells, Hawkshead has managed to keep the tourist invasion at bay by pedestrainising its village centre. This innovative idea that has allowed the village to retain its much of its original tranquillity.
Nearby the wooden sculptures at Grizdale Forest are worth a visit and makes a lovely walk on a nice day. Two miles from Hawkshead is Hill Top, former home of Beatrix Potter that’s open to the public. |
