The name Bracknell comes from Braccen-Heale' meaning "bracken covered secret place."
It was designated a new town during the 1960s and is a thoroughly modern place - attracting computer and IT companies. It's also where the Met Office are based, distributing information about the weather.
The pedestrianised town centre also includes a carefully thought out network of cycle paths.
Nearby are some more ancient sites like Caesar's Camp, an Iron Age hillfort.
