Newbury

Newbury is best known for its' racecourse, which opened in 1905 after years of campaigning by a local trainer called John Porter.

Despite having to close during the First World War when it was used as a prisoner of war camp, it is now one of the leading racing venues.

The town of Newbury is dominated by the Kennet and Avon Canal which winds its way through the heart.
The canal has been restored to once again allow it to be used and enjoyed and it's just a short stroll from the town centre.
