The Yar estuary is a popular with walkers and bird watchers.

Nearby in Fort Victoria Country Park there is an aquarium, a planetarium, a sunken history exhibition focussing on marine archeology, and a model railway, along side the pleasant walks through woodland and  beside the coast.
