High Wycombe

High Wycombe itself is these days a modern town with shopping centres and all the facilities expected of a bustling place.

Perfectly placed for London commuters, it also has a theatre and still has a market three days a week.

Just a few miles to the west of the town are the fascinating West Wycombe Caves, which lead deep underground to mysterious caverns extended in the 18th century by Sir Francis Dashwood, founder of the  notorious Hellfire Club.

It's not quite certain what went on in these caverns were used for but members of the Hellfire Club were said to have included Benjamin Franklin.
