Amersham
Amersham is a small town which hasn't really changed much in appearance since the 18th century.
It's really split into two - Amersham, with its' wide high street and market hall and Amersham-on-the-Hill. where homes were built because it was near the railway station and is the last stop on the Metropolitan Line - ideal for commuters.

Developers built houses and shops near the station to form modern day Amersham-on-the-Hill. The town has a shopping centre and a leisure complex

It's quite a good base for the nearby Chiltern Hills, which are very popular with walkers.
