No one is quite sure what it represents or how it got there but one thing is for sure - Stonehenge is one of the world's most famous ancient monuments.
Dating back to the Bronze Age these giant stones tower over visitors and is a quite incredible sight.
The stones used are believed to come from Prescelly Mountains in Wales and there are many theories as to how they were transported.
Visitors may be disappointed they can't get into the heart of Stonehenge and the visitor centre is somewhat limited.
However, a £57 million plan has been unveiled to try and upgrade the site and retain some of the mystery which has been spoiled by modern day traffic on a nearby road and tacky gifts shops.
