Exeter is a city with an eventful history and rich in seafaring traditions. It was originally founded by the Celts, and went on to become the most westerly Roman outpost. Today, the Norman Cathedral of St Peter’s dominates the city skyline. Surrounding St Peter’s is Cathedral Close, an area that retains much charm and charater, lined with Georgian and Medieval houses. Exeter is one of the best places for shopping in the South West.
