Thetford
Thetford dates back to Saxon times when it was the capital of the Saxon kingdom of East Anglia. It even had its own mint producing coins in the Middle Ages.
And the Iceni tribe even appointed as their Royal City.
These days it's a pleasant stop, and not surprisingly, there's a fair amount of history to uncover.
The Charles Burrell Museum tells the story of the man who produced steam engines which were known around the world.
Just outside this pretty Norfolk town is Thetford Forest, one of the biggest pine forests in Britain.
Or for something really different, why not visit Grimes Graves, north west of Thetford. This is a 34 acre site with 400 mine shafts where miners used to hack flint from the rock some 5,000 years ago.
