Norfolk
Britain's east coast enjoys more sun and less rain than the rest of Britain and it's a great place to explore.
Drive past the blue/purple haze of lavender fields for which the area is famous, explore more than 700 medieval churches and countless historic houses or seek out some of the windpumps (or windmills) which are dotted across this very flat landscape.
The main city in Norfolk is Norwich, which is dominated by the castle and cathedral. Indeed, Norwich is said to have more mediaeval churches than any other city in Western Europe and the saying at one time was that the city had a church for every week of the year and a pub for every day.
Away from the city, escape to the famous Norfolk Broads - a series of inland lakes which is a sailor's paradise.
There's over 200 kilometres of shallow lakes and rivers to explore and enjoy.
Or enjoy the coast without dipping a toe in the water. The more traditional seaside resorts like Great Yarmouth have plenty to keep the family smiling - from amusements to theme parks.
For fans of impressive buildings, there's hundreds to choose from, including Sandringham -the royal house which gives a unique insigfht into the more relaxed side of the royal family.
