Bell House Hotel & Restaurant

Standing in delightful English gardens, The Bell House is one of the most attractive small hotels in the West Country, with the original house over 500 years old.

An historic former private house, The Bell House makes for an excellent base for exploring the West Country and the Cotswolds. In addition it is situated only 10 minutes from Chippenham, 15 minutes from Swindon, 20 minutes from Bath, 30 minutes from Bristol and 50 minutes from Cheltenham. There are lots of wonderful country houses in the vicinity, including Bowood and Badminton; motor racing at Castle Coombe; Badminton Horse Trials and the ancient stones at Avebury. Once a private house, the Bell House gained its name back when England was under the influence of Oliver Cromwell. Cromwell banned all church services and confiscated all church bells, leading the people of Sutton Benger to take the bell from the church (opposite) and kept it here, where it was rung for any services that were being held. The Bell House offers a non-smoking restaurant, as well as large gardens for al fresco dining. Wi-Fi is available in both the bar and restaurant areas. A conference room is also available for hire.
