The White Horse restaurant in Balsall Common combines the best of trad pub and gastropub and comes up trumps. The welcome is warm and the décor simple and modern with neutral colours, undressed tables and pools of warm lighting. Local suppliers provide excellent seasonal ingredients, including the award-winning dry-aged Scottish steaks from award winning butchers E&P of Coventry, for the home made menu that features trad favourites, some with a modern twist. They wisely don't mess with the Sunday roasts, though. The daily seafood specials are hugely popular, as is the outside drinking and dining area. Starting at a tenner, the wine list is international and modern with friendly tasting notes. As Balsall Common is a footballer-friendly commuter village, we might even do a bit of celeb-spotting at The White Horse.
