It's not simply the wonderful harbourside setting that makes Trawlers on the Quay one of Cornwall's favourite seafood restaurants. With East Looe fish market steps away, the food is phenomenal; the food chain - boat to market to kitchen to plate - negligible. Formidable champions of prime Cornish and West Country, chef/owners Nick Love and Mark Naper adapt their menu to what's best in the county on the day. Expect crab, scallops, Fowey mussels, monkfish, John Dory, and sea bass cooked to perfection. There's always one skillfully-cooked vegetarian and meat dish on the a l carte. Scoff your pick with Mark's famous specialty breads, and follow with a divine dessert. As you can imagine Trawlers on Quay gets very busy in summer, so best book early.

Three-course set menus from £24, focusing on fish, naturally. Weather permitting, parties of 12 can dine al fresco right at the photogenic water's edge where Mark and Nick rent a handful of tables in summer. A hand-picked international wine list features bins from local vintners Carmel Valley; most bottles below £20. Plus local beers, cider and cocktails. Discreet enough to suit business meetings.

All our ingredients are sourced from local suppliers and wherever possible are produced in Cornwall or the West Country. Our day boat fish is landed here in Looe, with our smoked fish from St Ives.

Starters

- Grilled Cornish goats cheese with a grape and walnut salad
- Platter of parma ham with a walnut and herb salad and parmesan shavings
- Creole spiced Cornish crab boulettes with salad leaves and a sweet and sour dressing
- Gratin of scallops topped with this season's fresh Cornish asparagus

Main

- Cornish crab risotto with parmesan and truffle oil
- Casserole of Cornish lamb braised in St Austell Tribute ale with a cauliflower puree
- Roasted monkfish with butternut squash and a balsamic vinegar reduction
- Trenant Farm rib eye steak with a brandy and Cornish cream sauce
- A trio of Cornish fish with a lime and red onion butter
- Olives and four of Mark Napper's speciality breads, which are baked daily at Trawlers using local West Country flour, are offered with Rodda's freshly churned Cornish butter. A selection of seasonal vegetables is served with all main courses.

Dessert

- Mark Napper's trio of pots, lemon posset, creme brulee and a chocolate and orange custard
- Our own recipe bread and Cornish butter pudding with raisins soaked in Jamaican rum and vanilla ice cream
- A classic creme brulee with a compote of this season's Tamar Valley strawberries
