There's only one table to book for steak in Cheshire, and that's Stuart's at his home, the heart-warmingly old-fashioned Farmers Arms in Huxley. On most week nights the foodie fanatic can be found chatting passionately with one of his many regulars about the value of good food and company. He and his chef cook everything themselves - no machines - and their balanced menu always has extra mature British steaks, poultry from Goosnargh, lamb, and a fish option. Sensible pricing means that two of you can savour a magnificent two-course meal with wine for under £50. Sundays are the big family day when half the diners are children, including wee ones tucking into their roast - the 'Baby Bowl.' Stuart's Table genuinely is a gem.
Stuart has a private dining room for 12, while his very nice garden seats 30+, and his south-facing terrace around 16. Group menus from £12.95; it depends what you want. Very fairly priced wine list, with over 20 different reds and whites to choose from for £11.95. Good beers and real ales. Car park. Children are very welcome.
