The Poacher looks for all the world just the kind of traditional pub you'd expect to find in a little Kent village called Tudeley. Until you step through the door. Inside is a bright, modern space that's more restaurant than pub - new blonde oak floors and furniture, white walls, contemporary art... It looks great. You can eat in the 'proper' restaurant or in the comfortable bar, where there's comfy window seats overlooking the boules court. When the sun's out, everyone wants to sit on the patio area (which has full table service). The food? Honest modern European meals that hit the spot time and again. The daily specials always feature a vegetarian dish. Lovely presentation.
The Poacher has a private dining room seating up to 10 for meetings, lunches or dinners. Exciting, well organised wine list. Several by the glass. Book the boules court and you get moules, frites and a large glass of wine for £14.95 per person. Large car park.
