Next time you're flying via Gatwick it's worth a detour to Crawley's Cube Restaurant, which opened in July 2005 as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment of the Clarion Hotel Gatwick. The all-day menu has a generous range of dishes for every time of day. If you're filling up on real food before being subjected to aero-fodder, the char-grilled pork and apple sausages with fried egg and bubble and squeak should hit the spot. If you're after something lighter, the imaginative sandwiches include scrambled egg and bacon panini, warm chicken Caesar ciabatta, smoked salmon bagel and a classic club sandwich. And if you're after a chilli hit, there's a selection of spicy curries, including one for veggies. Décor is cool and contemporary and there's a stylish bar for drinks beforehand. Sundays feature the Dip and Dine lunch, when guests can swim free of charge in the hotel's attractive indoor pool before lunch.
