Creelers - named after the traditional woven creels used to catch the restaurant's famous, fresh shellfish - is situated in the heart of the historic centre of Edinburgh, just off the Royal Mile. The restaurant is run by former fisherman Tim James, and his restaurateur wife Fran, who also own the renowned Arran Smokehouse. The dining room at Creelers is divided into two sections. The front room is awash with marine-inspired blues and greens, and features a stunning mural of the isle of Arran; while the rear section - with wooden floors and artworks by young Scottish artists - has a warmer, more intimate atmosphere. Expect a stunning menu featuring fresh seafood and traditional Scottish fare. Signature dishes include the grilled queen scallops with chilli oil and crème fraiche; fillet of Loch Duart salmon with beetroot, horseradish and watercress; and the rib-eye of pure-breed Aberdeen Angus beef with lambs lettuce and herb oil. Creelers is also famous for their sensational seafood platter - a spectacular array of home-cured and smoked fish and shellfish.
Creelers is one of the most established seafood restaurants in Edinburgh, and its relaxed atmosphere makes it perfect for parties and celebrations. The dining room can hold up to 65 people. Up to 16 can be seated outside, and a private dining room can cater for up to 50 people.
