Contrast Brasserie has stunning views across the clear blue river Ness, flowing through the beawting heart of historic Inverness. The restaurant is located in the old Gelnmoriston Town House and while the outside of the old building exudes period charm, the restaurant's interior is up to the minute style personified: sharp, modern and sophisticated with black, grey and brown finishes. There's also a BBQ and dining on the restaurant's sheltered terrace in summer. Contrast is a brasserie with its heart firmly in France, but with one foot remaining in Scotland. It would be mad not to make use of the best North Sea fish, and here they roast local monkfish and steam langoustines which have travelled only a few miles from sea to plate. It's a perfectly designed culinary culture clash.
Contrast Brasserie offers a group menu at £25 a head, featuring three courses, and four choices of dish per course, including vegetarian options. The entire restaurant can be booked, meaning that up to 70 guests can dine.
