The Alderley is a split-level conservatory on wooded slopes overlooking the Cheshire countryside. The family-run feel of the main sandstone country house is felt here too, where warm browns, gentle lighting and exemplary front-of-house staff make you really rather comfortable. The food's exceptionally good; all freshly made and sourced locally, as the breads and homemade butters testify. Temptations are many, like rump of Cheshire lamb, slow-cooked tomatoes, baby roasted potatoes and garden mint, £23.15, and 'Treacletown' pudding with butterscotch ice cream and toffee sauce, £6.50. Not to mention seared liver and bacon with herb mash and redcurrant jus from the table d'hote lunch menu, £13.95 for two excellent courses. Meals can be scaled up or down, as you like.
The Alderley has a number of private rooms overlooking manicured gardens or the Cheshire countryside. Menus are complemented by a superb wine list of over 500 wines and 100 champagnes.90-cover conservatory. Fixed lunch - £12.95 for two courses. Fixed dinner, £29.50 for three. Gourmet tasting menu highly recommended. Place cards, seating plans and personalized menu cards on request.
