The Nightingale Lodge

This newly refurbished backpackers’ lodge offers budget shared and private accommodation in the diverse Georgian Quarter of South Liverpool, only 5 minutes’ walk from the city centre.

There is no curfew, and reception is open 24 hours a day. Groups are welcome, and the accommodation is open all year round. Facilities include a communal kitchen and dining area, free hot showers, a large lounge, computer kiosks, a plasma TV with satellite channels, secure cycle storage and secure lockers. Situated in what many call the ‘Real Heart of Liverpool’, The Nightingale Lodge has a welcoming atmosphere and a wealth of history. Friendly, helpful staff and excellent transport links make it a good-value base from which to explore Liverpool. Originally known as The Nightingale House, the lodge played an essential role in Britain's medical advances during the 18th century and the historic plaque in front of the building commemorates Florence Nightingale's work. Other publicly listed features include the picturesque stained-glass window at the top of the main staircase, which overlooks the reception area, where you can find Florence Nightingale's own original bookcase from her time in the city.
