The Isle of Skye's main town of Portree in an area called Trotternish. Portree is often known as the Kings Harbour as King James V landed there with his fleet of ships for Hebridean tour. Portree is a lovely fishing town, with (unsurprisingly) a number of restaurants and cafes serving up a host of locally caught fish dishes.
After visiting the harbour, we climbed up the stairs to Cafe Arriba. Decorated in a warm teraccotta Cafe Arriba had a relaxed Bohemian atmosphere. The coffee and cakes were excellent, as was the service.
Hint: We found that Portree has excellent parking facilities just near the bus station. Much easier than trying to park in the central square. |
