A visit to The Black Country offers you the chance to travel though to time, from the birth of the industrial revolution to the modern day, whilst revelling in the art, crafts, tradition and culture of historic towns and inviting green countryside. What's more it's just 30 minutes by bus or train from Birmingham International airport.
Here you can discover the origins of famous names like Chubb and Yale at the Lock Museum in Willenhall or visit the Black Country Living Museum at Dudley, where you can travel back to Victorian times to experience Black Country life. Or visit the leatherworks at Walsall, the Red House Cone and Broadfield House glass-making museums at Dudley and the enamelling workshops at Bilston.
The town of Wednesbury houses one of the world's largest collection of Ruski 1930s pottery, whilst the stunning New Art Gallery in Walsall opened in February 2000 features over 350 internationally important paintings by artists like Picasso and Van Gogh.
If you prefer peaceful green countryside try Sandwell Valley Country Park, home to rare, native farm breeds like the Tamworth pig.
For night-life, entertainment, or shopping then head to Wolverhampton. You could spend an evening within the Victorian splendour of the Grand Theatre, or dine at one of the many restaurants and enjoy the lively atmosphere. For shopping the vast Merry Hill Centre offers factory shops, street markets and crafts centres where works of contemporary Black Country artists are for sale and on display.
Come to the Black Country and experience first hand the traditional Real Ale pubs, excellent restaurants and the warm hospitality and that infamous Black Country dry sense of humour!
