The coastal town of Ilfracombe is probably the most popular resort on the northern coast of Devon, It can get busy but there are some great beaches to escape to nearby.  The best beaches in the area are around Morte Point to the west of Ilfracombe that offer great views of Lundy Island.  Nearby Woolacombe Sands offers a two mile stretch of sand that’s popular with surfers and families with Baggy Point being a great place to see sea birds such as gannets, cormorants and shearwaters.

The harbour at Ilfracombe is a good place to get a boat trips to Lundy Island, around the local coast, or for fishing trips.
