Avon is a mainly agricultural area in the South West, bounded by the Severn estuary in the north and next door to Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset. Noted for dairy farming, the area attracts a huge number of tourists to Bristol, which is set on the River Avon and has plenty of small boats visiting this once important port.
Massive investment has turned the harbourside into a buzzing place with Explore at-Bristol, Wildwalk at-Bristol and the first large IMAX Theatre in the south west.
A stunning view of the Avon Gorge can be seen form the nearby Clifton Suspension Bridge.
