East Grinstead is a popular place for London commuters to live but is a pretty market town, with plenty of attractive black and white half-timbered buildings.  The High Street is a Conservation area and there's plenty of speciality shops to explore among the colourful flowerbeds.

Away from the town there are a number of spots like Deers Leap Mountain Park, a working farm with 230 acres of countryside and a trail of mountain bike tracks and nature trails.
