The king of seaside towns - Brighton is a bright and breezy place with plenty to do no matter what the weather.

It has been a popular place with everyone from Kings to Londoners wanting a  refreshing day away from it all.  King George IV was a great fan of this bustling seaside town and first time visitors can't miss the sumptuous Royal Pavilion which he had built. Inside are lavishly decorated rooms which show off his somewhat eccentric view of life.

Explore The Lanes - modest fisherman's cottages which are now boutiques and antique shops, or take a ride on the world's first ever public electric railways - the Victorian Volks Railway. 

On sunny days there's nothing better than a walk to the clean beaches, followed by a stroll along Brighton Pier, with amusements, restaurants and funfair.

For rainy days try the newly refurbished Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, which is well known for an outstanding collection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco work.

Brighton also is known for a lively nightlife, thriving gay scene and a British first - in 1981 Telescombe Beach became the first place in the country to officially allow nude bathing!
