Lake Windermere is longest lake in England. Its popular for watersports and one of the best ways to make the most of the lake is by boat – try the ferry service or one of the many boat trips.
On its banks the town of Windermere is the transport hub of the southern lakes region and is home to the main train station.

A short boat ride from Bowness will take you to Lakeside, on a quieter part of the lake. Here you can take a trip on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway or visit the Aquarium of the Lakes.
