Blackpool is the typical British seaside resort. It’s the most popular seaside resort in the county, full of piers, promenades, arcades, fortune-tellers, chip shops, bingo halls and donkey rides on the 7 miles of sandy beach. Blackpool is all about fun.
The Blackpool Pleasure Beach is one of the major attractions here. It sports a huge collection of white knuckle rides including one of the worlds tallest and fastest rollercoasters. Otherwise the Sandcastle is a good place for a warm swim and lots of aquatic fun and the Sea Life Centre here is one of the countries best with 8ft sharks and giant pacific octopus. If you fancy some peace and quiet try the award-winning Stanley Park with its formal gardens, fountains and boating lake.
During September through to November the town hosts the famous Blackpool Illuminations that light up the town with around 400,000 lamps.
