Chipping Norton is considered another town right at the edge of the Cotswold and is the highest town in Oxfordshire at 700 feet.
In days gone by the town was a gathering place for wool merchants and traders but these days it's an attractive stop for tourists with a museum, attractive church (St. Mary's) and a number of antique shops.
The town's most notable landmark is an odd looking building with a big chimney. In fact, this is Bliss Mill - which was once a textile mill set up by William Bliss, the Chipping Norton's famous benefactor. A lucky few now live in this landmark since it was converted into luxury apartments with leisure facilities. |
