Its under 23 miles at its widest point but the Isle of Wight manages to pack in a wide variety of landscapes into a small area. The north side of the island is mostly woodland, low lying pastures and meandering rivers, whilst to the south is chalk downs surrounded by high cliffs. The island is a popular holiday and short break destination.
